How many people do I need to make up a team? 10
I’m short of team members. Although we would prefer teams of 10 we do realise this may not be possible. There are teams with the same situation. As a result, don’t let this stop you from getting in touch and letting us help you make up the team numbers.
Can anyone join a team? Provided that all team members are over 18 on the date of the event, are adequately fit and are suitably equipped, then yes. Each team will need to appoint a team leader to coordinate the group and to liaise with the organisers before and during the event.
Will I need special training? Piano moving is a strenuous activity, and piano moving up a mountain road against the clock is not likely to be any easier! Team members should be confident that they are generally fit, and that they have no medical condition(s) which may be made worse by strenuous activity of this type. If there is any doubt, please seek appropriate medical advice before you apply.
Can I try out the trolley and piano before the ‘real thing’? Yes. Piano, trolley and piano moving expert will all be present at the welcoming party to enthuse, bemuse and confuse (in that order).
Will my team need to pay £1000 to secure a place? No. The team only needs to pledge to raise a minimum of £1000 in order to ensure a place in the event. An advance payment of £250 (non-refundable) will, however, be payable when your application is submitted.
I want to enter a team but I won’t know exactly who will be in it until nearer the time. Can I reserve a place now? Certainly. Each team needs to appoint a team leader, and only the team leader needs to sign the initial application on behalf of the team. On the evening before the event (at the welcoming party), all team members must sign the registration form and disclaimer.
What’s to stop the piano rolling back on top of me? The piano will be secured at all times to prevent this. Please see the ‘Safety’ page on the website.
When I click to donate, I am automatically directed to Disability Snowsports and not the National Autistic Society. How can I donate to NAS? All the final proceeds of the event will be divided equally between DSUK and NAS. To simplify the initial collection of donations, all payments will be directed to DSUK. At the end of the event, 50% of net income will be distributed to each of the two charities.
What about insurance? Public liability insurance is provided for the piano pushing event. The responsibility for obtaining personal injury insurance, if you wish it, lies entirely with you.
